Biography

Alexei Sitnikov joined Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skolkovo Tech) in October of 2011 as Director of Administration and Development. Alexei’s responsibilities include establishment of the administrative structure within the Institute, formulation and execution of the financial model and the budget, creation and development of the Endowment as well as establishment of wide partnership networks for Skolkovotech. Alexei is also in charge of annual fundraising, communications, public outreach and Alexei transferred to this position from the post of Director for International Development at Skolkovo Foundation where he lead the efforts to establish the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology. In his position at the Foundation Alexei also created the international network of partners from among a number of international academic institutions, non- profit organizations and foundations.

From 2005 to 2010 Alexei served as Vice President for Operations and Development at the New Economic School in Moscow. While at NES, Alexei led the establishment of one of the first and largest university endowment Foundations in Russia.

From 1999 to 2005 Alexei held the position of Program Director for Russia at Freeman SpogliInstitute for International Studies at Stanford University. For over 9 years, Stanford’s program on distance learning, offered Stanford’s courses in social sciences and international security to several thousand students in Russian universities.

In 2003 Mr. Sitnikov co-founded the Global Technology Symposium at Stanford University and served as its Vice-President for business development until 2008. Global Technology Symposium is the leading investment conference on venture capital, technology, and entrepreneurship in emerging markets. Each year, the Symposium has brought more than 300 selected opinion leaders in business, finance, technology, and policymaking to Silicon Valley, where they share insights into the opportunities and challenges of globalization.

Alexei also serves as Advisor to the Governor of Kirov Region, Russia. Since 2011 Mr. Sitnikov is a Member of the Board of Directors at the Russian Venture Company (RVC).

Alexei graduated (with Honors) from the Department of History at Yaroslavl State University in 1995. In 1996 he received a Master of Political Science degree (with distinction) from the Central European University in Budapest. In 1997 Alexei was awarded the Master’s Degree in Political Science from Stanford University. In 2001he completed the PhD program at the Department of Political Science at Stanford University with specialization in comparative politics, international relations and organizational theory.
