E.M. Avraamova was born in Moscow 19 May 1953. She graduated from a Faculty of Philosophy, M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University in 1975. In 1975–1988 she worked at CEMI RAS. From 1988 to 1999 she was senior, then leading researcher, and from 2000 — Chair of Economic Activity Laboratory at the Institute for Socio-Economic Studies of Population RAS (ISESP RAS). In 2005–2011 she also worked as a Deputy Director for Research, and in 2011–2012 — as an Acting Director of ISESP RAS.
In 1988 E.M. Avraamova defended her candidate of economic sciences thesis, and in 1998 — her doctoral thesis in specialty “Economics and management of national economy”. In 2003 she was awarded professorship.
E.M. Avraamova is a renowned specialist in the field of socio-economic relations and social policy. At various times she contributed to conceptual documents that form the basis of social policy measures taken by executive and legislative authorities.
Since 1992 E. M. Avraamova has been the director of ISESP RAS research in vertical mobility of the population, social stratification and human potential development. She has published 110 articles in leading Russian and world journals, and 10 monographs. Over 20 candidate and doctoral dissertations were written and defended under her supervision.
E.M. Avraamova is a member of expert board of Higher Attestation Committee and a member of dissertation councils of ISESP RAS and National Research University — Higher School of Economics.
