Alexander Ivanchenko

Biography

1988–1993: Research consultant for the Secretariat of the Supreme Soviet of Russia on issues concerning organizing and conducting elections.

1993–1996: Deputy Chairman for the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation.

1996–1999: Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation.

1999–2007: Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Independent Institute of Elections NGO.

Since August of 2007: Manager of the Russian Center for Instruction on Voting Technologies at the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation.

A. V. Ivanchenko has a PhD in Jurisprudence, and is an Honored Lawyer in Russia. He has authored a number of works on the Russian electoral system, the multi-party system, and political rights and freedoms of citizens, and he participated in the development of Russian laws regarding elections and referendums.
